Nancy Varallo

Nancy Varallo, RDR, CRR, FAPR

Nancy Varallo, RDR,CRR, began her court reporting career as a freelancer in 1979.  In 2001 she founded The Varallo Group, putting her entrepreneurial and visionary skills to good use.  The Varallo Group offers a unique suite of services designed to help court reporters and firm owners achieve business success.

Varallo is a marquee name in court reporting, with a rich and proud history dating back to 1937.  Nancy, a court reporter, educator and business owner, carries on the Varallo tradition of excellence with her company’s longstanding commitment of time-honored values of quality, service and accountability.

Nancy was the 2013-2014 President of the National Court Reporters Association and was inducted as a Fellow of the National Academy of Professional Reporters in 2001. Nancy has served as president of the Massachusetts Court Reporters Association, and was recognized as an MCRA Laureate. Her Dear Nancy column appears regularly in the Journal of Court Reporting and state association newsletters.  Nancy is married to NCRA’s six-time speed champion and court reporting legend Ed Varallo.

Robert F. Deziel, Jr.

The Varallo Group has announced the appointment of Robert F. Deziel, Jr. as Executive Director. Rob brings twenty years of court reporting industry experience to The Varallo Group.

He has worked with countless reporters and firm owners across the country. “Rob’s industry experience and IT background add depth to The Varallo Group team,” said Nancy Varallo, CEO of The Varallo Group. “He has an uncanny ability to see opportunities not only for our company, but for our client’s businesses as well. Rob is trustworthy and talented, a favorable combination.”

“I am excited to be working for an organization whose mission is to support firm owners and court reporters,” said Rob. “I understand the court reporting business and its unique challenges. I look forward to working with The Varallo Group’s clients, court reporters, and staff to continue to build their collective accomplishments.”

Rob’s an Eagle Scout and loves the great outdoors. When he’s not in the office, he enjoys camping, hiking, scuba diving, and skiing.

Jim Cudahy

James M. Cudahy, CAE

A familiar name to the court reporting community, Jim Cudahy served as CEO of the National Court Reporters Association from 2012 until 2015.  Jim earned his reputation through more than 25 years of providing marketing and communications support to groups such as CFA Institute, INFOCOMM International, and many other organizations with which he has worked or partnered.  Jim is a master storyteller and enjoys nothing more than working with clients to analyze data and situations and then come up with a story and a plan to tell it.

Immediately prior to joining The Varallo Group, Jim was the president and CEO at the National Investor Relations Institute.  In addition to serving as NCRA’s CEO, he worked as its senior director of marketing and communications from 2009 through 2012 and as assistant director of marketing from 1992 through 1995.

“It’s an honor to work as part of The Varallo Group and to return to a role within the court reporting community,” says Jim.  “As I have seen first-hand, court reporters are a spirited group of people who have a passion for their profession.  I am eager to help court reporters and firm owners channel this passion and put it to productive use in advancing the interests of their businesses.”

Jim is an avid sports fan with allegiance to all professional sports from New England, most notably the Red Sox and the Patriots. When not working, Jim’s life revolves around the activities of his wife, Jenny, and three sons, which include visits to the Great State of Maine, swim meets, wineries and brewpubs, and dog parks with his two Labrador retrievers.
