Local videographer earns national certification
Cedar Lewis recognized as a Certified Legal Video Specialist
RESTON, Va., [June 30, 2016]—The National Court Reporters Association (NCRA), the country’s leading organization representing stenographic court reporters, captioners, and legal videographers, has announced that Cedar Lewis has earned the nationally recognized Certified Legal Video Specialist (CLVS) certification, which acknowledges a high level of skill and understanding of knowledge related to all facets of videotaping, court proceedings and judicial procedures and the ability to deliver an accurate and timely finished video product.
“Video specialists are in high demand in court proceedings nationwide. A CLVS is an expert in understanding how to set up and capture the necessary information needed by parties to a case in a video format,” says Mike Nelson, CAE, CEO and executive director of NCRA. “They are highly trained in working with video equipment to provide accurate and vital records in this type of specialized format.”
CLVSs are required to attend a two-day seminar that focuses on using video in the legal environment. They have also successfully passed a written knowledge exam as well as a hands-on production exam.
“Earning my Certified Legal Video Specialist certification was a huge accomplishment for me,” said Lewis. “So many factors can affect the quality of the audio and video record. This certification shows that I have the knowledge to adjust for unforeseen issues, to capture a quality record, and to work alongside court reporters in this very specialized field. I am thrilled to have a role that allows me to combine my IT background and passion for customer service. I am incredibly proud to be a member of this elite community of professionals.”
“At The Varallo Group, we value professionalism and competency,” said Nancy Varallo, CEO of The Varallo Group and past president of NCRA. “By achieving her Certified Legal Video Specialist credential, Cedar demonstrated that she’s has the skills and the work ethic required to be a true professional. I’m delighted to recognize her for both.”
